Indoor Stairs: What can I expect from indoor stairs construction?

As with any construction project the construction of indoor stairs will be noisy and dusty. Home improvements take time, but seeing your design ideas come to life is always well worth it in the end. Before you consider a new indoor stairs construction project, be sure that you are ready for all the following construction steps.

Demolition is the first step to constructing indoor stairs. More times than not there are existing stairs that first have to be removed before construction of new stairs can start. This is one of the noisiest and dustiest parts of the construction process. Our crew will break down and carry away the existing staircase so there will be a lot of foot traffic in and out of your home.

It’s also important to remember that once construction starts your access to upper floors will no longer exist unless you have an alternate way to access your upstairs. This is why we recommend that you get everything you need during the construction process from the upper floors. Once we begin with the foundation of your stairs you will be able to access your entire house again. Until then we want you to have everything you need that will be inaccessible once demolition starts.

Construction of your indoor stairs starts right after the demolition process. During this time there will also be a lot of noise as we use several power tools to build your stairs. The area will also be rather dusty as we make adjustments to wood pieces so that they can fit perfectly in place. The amount of time the construction takes depends on the size and customization of your staircase. The more details that go into creating your indoor stairs, the more time it will take us to complete the project.

The Finishing Touches

The last part of the construction process is the finishing touches. These include painting and staining. During this time you also have limited access to your upstairs. Once the stairs have been painted and stained they will need several hours and sometimes a couple of days to completely dry. The drying time will slightly depend on whether. Damp weather will cause the paint to dry more slowly, so it’s always best to take this into consideration when you are packing up things that you will need for the days when you cannot access your upstairs.

We do everything in our power to make the construction process as easy and worry free for you as possible. Though the noises and dust cannot be avoided, we understand how much you want your home back in working condition as soon as possible and we do what we can to make that happen.
